Question..

I have a little dilemma...and I'm not too sure what to do about it. Sooo, I'm asking for your highly knowledgeable opinions!

My boss has a paper up on the bulletin board at work that she wants us all to sign. I have yet to sign it..and I'm just not too sure I feel comfortable doing it because I'm not sure if it's legal? The paper goes something like this:

I, ______, agree to work on Good Friday with no over time pay in lieu of having the Saturday off.

It doesn't sound right to me, but I really don't know the Canadian labour laws..I should have them memorized since I'm sure she's breaking AT LEAST half of them..But the thing is is that no one else at my work is religious, so they're all "YES!!! SATURDAY OFF!!" And they signed the paper right away. And to me it's not even about it being a religious holiday..if it's not right, it's not right. But I was always under the opinion that Good Friday is one of those super stats like Christmas is??? Blah I don't know what to do because everyone's going to be pissed at me if we end up having to come into work on Saturday..

All of this just REALLY pisses me off. A person should seriously have to take some kind of government administered test/psychological exam before they're able to open up ANY kind of business that would cause them to be able to have employees....

Time and a half PLUS an average day's salary. I'd print this off and show it to your boss.

I say don't agree to it. If you work on Friday then you get paid more! Why would anyone want to give up holiday pay?

Nope, I have yet to sign the paper! Unfortunately, what they're doing IS legal if the majority of employees agree (DANGIT!)..but they still have to pay us for the Saturday that they're giving us off. And I doubt my dumbass boss (forgive me Jesus for I have sinned) knows that.
